7 dirty words
« on: January 09, 2008, 04:11:25 pm »
Actually there is a lot more than 7.   This forum does have its banned word list and because you people are somewhat dignfied and polite, we seldom see any issues.

Today I came accross another forum that banned the word NAZI.  To me that is political correctness gone too far.  I once sent a complaint to a restaurant and the whole complaint got ignored because the person responding really got upset that I called the restaurant's manager a "water Nazi" He wouldn't address the issue after that.

Most of you who have come to this forum in recent years probably don't remember when [glow]spoon[/glow] was a banned word.  ::)

My first act as moderator was to remove that.  And not suprisingly, it hasn't been abused.

I really liked the nanny software's alteration of the word platypus when I wrote about my trip to Australia.

Edit- <fecal matter>! It doesn't work anymore.  Platygirlthingy.

You're just young and don't know some very old slang terms. "Scum" use to be a rather nasty slang term at one time.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

When I was growing up, we weren't allowed to say Engelbert Humperdink (but I did every chance I got...still do!)

ENGELBERT HUMPERDINK!

I'm trying to teach my 14 month old how to say "DaDa", but all he says is "CaCa".  My 9-year old girl calls me the same thing.  So does my wife, come to think of it.

ENGELBERT HUMPERDINK!

When I was waiting tables in Norman, OK, this old fella and his family were yucking it up with me.  He says "Son, you must be from Texas!"

I says "Yessir, how can you tell?"

He says "'Cause you shore got a twang on you!"

I looks down, looks back up and says "Well, thank you, but I thought my apron covered it up."

He got to chucklin', his wife looked mortified, and his daughter took a good long look at my apron.
