Why you should wear your glasses in the tub
« on: December 31, 2007, 09:35:48 pm »
We'll be having the family over for New Years dinner tomorrow and they all end up enjoying a soak in the tub. So I went out to be sure everything was good with the water this morning.  Hubby and I had been in Saturday night and he closed the tub up, as he always does.  ..The water looked fine, nice and clear...but it was 104!! We have never had the tub that hot. I can't even stand it above 101!!  :oHubby admitted that he was trying to turn off the waterfall light after we soaked..and it wouldn't go out :o ;D ;D guess not, he was hitting the temperature up button  :-? This is an excellent reason to have an actual temperature read out in the tub..and a good reason to wear your  glasses too! 8-)

I have to laugh at this!

My eyes have been getting progressively worse since I started wearing glasses 5 years ago.  I can't even focus on the LED readout of my alarm clock in the morning. Thankfully I have a controller with LEDs for all the functions and readout so I know what's going on with the tub even if I can't see clearly. When I bought my tub the higher end spas all had dimly lit LCDs which are great for people who can see things better than I and I was thinking on how would I know what I'm pressing with LCDs ... I'm glad I'm not alone.

BTW, even with glasses with me they fog up that I can't see anything anyway.

mine too!
since i lose/break them i buy reading glasses by the case on e-bay
i looked into lense replacement
it's as expensive as a new hot tub and seems like it's no fun either
plus you lose some of your far away vision
but I may do it anyway in the next couple of years
it's hell getting old!

Haha..I have worn glasses since I was a little critter, so now I can take them off to read..that must be what happens to us near sighted folks..when we get old! 8-)
Zep, my husband has those disposable glasses in every color of the rainbow and they are scattered all over the house, in the cars...at his office. I am thinking I might connect the darn key finder thing that I got for Christmas to a pair of his glasses...that way he can always find a pair!! and I don't have to find my keys when they aren't lost...that key finder is driving me nuts ;D ;D

This is exactly why I have the temp locked on my controller.  Now it takes a series of button pushes to first unlock the temp setting...great feature, IMO.  8-)

;D  About 3 years ago we had Lasiks surgery to correct our distance vision for both me and my wife.  She had been wearing glasses since she was a tot and had it pretty bad with 20/600 (left) and 20/800 (right)  vision issues mine were better @ 20/80 and 20/100 but now neither of us wears glasses for anything other than NEAR small print or very dark locations (nighttime dinning with odd or minuscule print).  One of my best investments EVER (even though they did make a minor mistake with mine....story for some other time).

I'm the same way.  I keep the temperature locked on the tub.  Its too easy to accidentally move it with the remote.  I usually only adjust the temp on a seasonal basis, and this way, if I change it, I intended to do so.

"now neither of us wears glasses for anything other than NEAR small print"

and thats the only time I need the reading glasses and thats why it seems lense replacement is my only option.....my far away vision is perfect.....I just can't read a magazine, map, or newspaper without reading glasses.

I was only wearing glasses for reading but now I have bifocals.

I guess the good thing about it is that when I take my glasses off it doesn't matter what anything looks like!  ;D Iguess it's a good thing that I met my wife a long time ago! ::)
