Anybody seen one of these before?
« on: December 21, 2007, 09:45:31 am »
This is something I would consider putting in my next house.

Can anyone convert the price to $ for me?

Thanks,

Chad

Thank you!

What are your thoughts on this? Would you consider buying one of these instead of a portable spa when it's time for a new one?

The thought of filling it everytime I want to use it does not appeal to me. :-?

Indeed!

Think of all that you would have to do to your house, especially if it were not new construction, to make that work.  YIKES!  :o  I think giant tubs of hot water are best kept outside under the stars.

When it's time to do it all  over again, I will consider a hot tub with those attachments for exercise bands, or perhaps a hot tub/swim spa so that I could swim in a very tiny lane all year round.  Do they have one of those yet?

I stayed in a place that had one...loved it!!  It was actually maybe a bit bigger than the one you are looking at.  It was put in a bathroom with mirrors as walls on 3 sides and the shower was on the back wall.  Nothing got wet except the mirrors with the overhead shower on.  I believe it had its own hot water heater.  The tub did not take long to fill at all...had one of those wide water fall type faucets.  Easily fit my husband and I together.  Delightful!!  Great addition, if you have the room.  The bathroom was no larger than the master baths they have been putting in homes for the last two decades.  Wouldn't take the place of a hot tub under the stars, as such, but it was great!!

2995 Euro's is equal to more like $4300 USD.

2995 British Pounds would be close to $6000 USD

My bad, I used to live in England many years ago and I thought they converted to all the same money after the chunnel was completed.

I have sold a few jetted tubs over the years, but not many. They tend to put the jets wherever it is easy to plumb them in and often that makes no sense at all from the perspective of the user. Side jets? Just go hit yourself on the sciatic nerve and see how you like it.

Then there is the matter of water volume - a nice big tub can empty a typical water heater and only have a few inches of water in the bottom. So you need to have a tankless heater which means you have to fill slowly, or you get a bigger tank style and crank the thermostat to the max.

No matter which type of heater you have for filling, you must have an inline heater to get and keep the temp up once you get the thing full and running. That is usually an electric item and since nobody seems to insulate these things the heater will have to run from the moment you start the pump until you shut 'er down to drain.

And as was mentioned above - the time it takes to fill every time generally gets so old that folks tend to stop using them after a few months.

And then they sit untouched so long that the seals and/or o-rings dry out, shrink and crack. That means that when you finally do decide to give it a go, it will leak onto the ceiling downstairs right over your expensive home theater system.

Other than that, they're fine.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone.

"It's probably the wave of the future."

Yeah Zep I agree. Chas brought up some rather good points. If they could just work out a few more kinks, I think they'll catch on rather soon. I know I'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

ps- Have the anti-christ vandals given you any problems this year?

Chad I am keeping my fingers crossed......been safe thus far

there have been local news reports of vandals striking
christmas displays in the Dallas area.....

this year i do have it locked down with steel cables (no pun intended)
of course if they are really determined they could still vandalize it

you have a good memory....thanks for asking

Merry Christmas!
