Meteor showers

Well, my fist time in the spa since back surgery went well - and I wouldn't have missed it:

My daughter and I sat and watched the Geminids meteor showers.

We were in the tub at around 10 PM local time, and we saw around 20 'shooting stars.' That's not bad at all since we live in town in a light-polluted area.

But to be able to get a good show like that, and to enjoy it from the spa, with my daughter who is going off to college $oon, was about 'as good as it gets.'

Hope you all had a fine evening too.

So glad you are feeling better and that your first return soak was so wonderful.  Sometimes, just a change in one's outlook, as you mentioned you had after surgery and months of pain, brings wonderful gifts because we are now equipped to really enjoy them!   :)

Thanks Rich, I personally hate the fact that this avitar is appropriate already.

Not true oh mighty one.

The stars are there, they are just a bit higher than the clouds.

We had at least a half dozen small planes flying around in circles, I bet most if not all of them where stargazing above the marine layer and city lights.

I would have if I could have!

I too had a GREAT soak Friday night.  Saw about a dozen meteors or so...kept seeing flashes out of the corner of my eye...so probably a lot more in total.

Then, three white tail bucks came up out of the ravine behind my house for a visit.  They rooted around in the snow and plopped down in my neighbors yard...enjoying the same view I was...

Finally at about 1:30 am, I was too tired to soak any longer.  I left the deer to enjoy the cold night air alone....and they barely cared to glance at me...much less get up out of the snow and run away.  They were just as calm and relaxed as I was...

I missed them Friday but did an hour long soak Saturday and there were still some around.

Saw a dozen or so before some clouds rolled in.  So I rolled out.

Saw the moon and Mars last night from the tub.  Its the first I've seen the moon in over a month. Clear skies are rare in Ohio for November and December.    I'm very experienced at finding things in the night sky, but you can't do it through clouds.

Yeah, I saw a opossum walk down the property line fence once while I was in the spa.

Wildlife spotting does add to the experience, doesn't it?
