Ooooh I hear what you're saying...No violence. ::) I just bring him a nice glass of wine, put some nice music on the soundsations :) (like Andrea Bocelli)..He relaxes in HIS >:( Adirondack Chair, sips his wine and I slip over to the control panel and TURN THE TEMP BACK DOWN TO 101.. :o :D No violence...but since I maintain the tub, dump, clean and refill the tub and buy all the chemicals...I CONTROL THE TEMERATURE  >:( ;D ;D ANY QUESTIONS???

Of course since your spa holds the heat as well as you say it does, the temp doesn't drop. ;)

My wife can't stand the 102 that I like, she likes it at about 100. I actually feel cold at 100 but nice and toasty warm at 102. My wife really never uses the tub so I keep it at 102 and enjoy nice hot soaks. My tub will fluctuate 3º ... 1º above setpoint to 1º below. The heater will then kick on and start it over again. Funny thing is I have been in 104 water in public spas (I verified it with a their thermometer) and it actually hurt to go in but 103 in my spa is nice ... go figure.

I have seen my tub once at 105 and that was in the heat of summer ... no way I was going in. People have written about getting their tubs higher than 104 and some have succeeded.

104 used to seem hot to me,  in the sense that I would get uncomfortable after about 10 minutes in the spa and have to jump in the pool to cool off.

Now that I'm a spa veteran of many years,  104 is just right, especially this time of year and I find I can sit and stay comfortable for as long as I want.

That is correct, it doesn't kick on until a two degree temperature drop from set temp. However, It will typically kick off once it reaches one degree higher.

Must be that by the time the sensor reads the degree over and kicks off, the residual heat bumps it up higher? I often find the temp two degrees over the set point when I go out. I like it that way, often I'll go out and bump the temp up to 104 prior to getting in. Hour later when I go to get in, it's at 106, I get in, move the temp down and get to enjoy the initial hot soak and it gradually cools extending my ability to stay in the tub.

*There was no violence in the development and/or implementation of the aforementioned hottub therapy procedure.

I refer to the increasing of temperature as thermal creep.  This prevalent in Florida in summer time, obviously.  If it is truly a problem simply prop up a corner of your spa cover in order to allow some ventilation of the trapped heat air.  This will bring down the temperature to your set temp.  What I just discovered about setting the temp to 104, is the point that the heater actually turns itself off.  In previous circuit board iterations, prior to mid-2006 if your spa was set on 104, the circuit programing turned off the heater at 102.99999.  For the majority of people this is okay. OUr newest control board iteration turns the heater off at 103.99999.  This is offered as a safety feature, and the turn off degree is 103.9999 that is understandable and very accurate.  A little extra temperature in the winter would seem like a good thing........I deal with in more so in the summer....Tom

It's been pretty chilly down here at night, so I've been leaving mine set at 106.  It was down in the 30's a couple of weeks ago...that's cold to me!

It's also really strange how you can so easily notice a one or two degree temperature rise Just a newbie observance

I can detect a 1/2 degree.  When I worked at Compuserve we had a whirlpool that had a really hard time regulating its temperature.  They had a floating thermometer.  My friend and I got pretty good at guessing the temperature to within a half degree.   The only time I remember it going to 108, we could only stay in a few seconds.

My wife and I have had this issue in our lives for over twenty years. But in the last year, I have shed some major pounds, and guess what? All of the sudden I like the tub at the same temp she does!

I couldn't have stood it at 103 before, but now I may even try 104.

Now that is interesting, Chas!!  You would think an insulated body might be able to stand hotter temps than a thin one...even though that extra insulation will cause you to be hotter during activity.

I don't personally know Chas or his wife, but it may be that after 20 years of "discussion" and "education" by his lovely wife, Chas has finally seen the light and now realizes that she was right all along.  I'm just guessin' here.....

I'm here in the midwest and in the winter months if I can't get it to at least a 105 I'm not even entering the tub but at a 107 it's even better when temp's are the 25 degree range w/ snow on the ground.
