Problems with conversion for Hardness readings

I'm hoping that someone here can help me figure out something with my home water softner.  I am trying to set it to the proper hardness.  While my Taylor kit uses PPM (Parts per Million) for reading Hardness, the manual for the water softner only talks about "Grains per Gallon".

I wanted to use my Talyor kit to measure the house water hardness, but don't know how to convert the reading so I know what it means for the softner settings.  Any ideas?
