Foul smell from lid
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:11:51 am »
Hi y'all. It's getting cold out now, so soaking season's here! :D

I've got a problem. There's a terrible smell coming from underneath the lid, where it sits on the spa and from the skirt surrounding it. Hard to describe, but it smells something like mildew. I have tried to scrub with newly chlorinated spa water, with liquid chlorine and water, and other household detergents, but it keeps coming back within hours or perhaps next day.
It's really bad. It even sticks to the hands for a while after opening the lid.

Sounds familiar? What did you do to get rid of it?

When you cleamed it with bleach and water did you let the solution sit a while? Bleach and water is the best for killing mildew.

It might be something inside the cover as well - someone else just had this problem as well.

Well, Bleach didn't do the trick.
Perhaps I was to careful; I'm pretty sure the vinyl can't handle the chlorine too well.

So what you're suggesting is that the mildew origin is inside?
But if I pull down the zipper and undress (the lid) is it at all possible to get the over on again?  :o

Anyhow, open it and check, it's easy and quick to have a look inside....I'm sure that you'll have a surprise like me, i have a Diplomat D1 and after one year the lids were full of humidity, i cleaned and dried the inserts and now everything goes well.
