There certainly are differing qualities of filters available. There are different sq ft options as well as pleat qualities. A firmer pleat generally is better. Looking at your options at your local spa store and having them explain it to you there would be helpful for you Venissa so you can see and feel the difference.

If you clean your filters properly (not just hose them off) with a product like Filter Brite (Bioguard) once a month, you should get a couple of years out of a set of filters that you alternate each month. Let them dry after you have cleaned and rinsed them.

Addting to Steve, as far as how often to clean, factor in usage. Currently I own a 6 person tub and its usually just my wife and I in it almost once every day.   Rinsing every 2 weeks and a better cleaning every couple of months does fine for us.  But if you put 4 people in a 4 person tub for 30 minutes every night you will need to clean them more often. Take a look at how white your new ones look and check them every week and you will get a feel for how long yours will go before cleaning.

Also, if you start to have other problems, like foam, that is a good time to rinse again.

We have no local spa store here so I usually purchase my tub filters, etc online so I really cant see or feel the difference.  I just got in one that is a Unicel C-8450 and it took me forever to find one at a good price....those puppies are outrageous!  I did however see some cheaper brands but was leary because they were so much cheaper.

I am like you as far as usage goes so will take your advise and rinse every couple of weeks and clean every couple of months.  I just want to make sure I get good use out of this high dollar paper pleated cylinder!

So its money well spent........thanks for letting me know.  I was not certian if it was an off brand but saw it on many different websites so assumed it would be a pretty good one.
