Did it start on the Jackie Gleason show or the Honeymooners? I kind of remember watching both (maybe reruns ... I was born in 1959) and I think Ed Norton was in the Honeymooners.

By "passing away", if you mean that passing through the pipes due to a handle being depressed by the eldest of the tribe, then Yes, I would think that it could be termed "passing away of natural causes"....LOL

There are a ton of things that I don't know about and I do know I screw up a lot as well. I'm just geeky with an unexciting life.

It was quite possible that "The Honeymooners" started as a skit on the Jackie Gleason show and spun off into it's own show, I don't remember if it did or not.
