Refill questions on Marquis spa (bromine)
« on: August 26, 2007, 10:02:13 am »
Okay, we're doing a dump/refill and I want to get the order right on putting in the chemicals because after my first dump, it took FOREVER to get the levels right.  I have a Marquis Epic with the in-line bromine system.  I have a soidum bromide package to add (to establish a bromine reserve?), but I'm not sure at which point I do that.  And when do I shock?  If someone could walk me through the steps on when to add which chemicals on refill, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Cajun,
make sure that you take your bromine cartridge out until the spa is heated up or you will dump more bromine into the tub then you want to.

Wait for the spa to heat to at least 90 degrees and then add about 1-2 oz of bromine concentrate.

The first thing I would do however, is to make sure you ALK and PH are correct.

BTW, just out of habit I always leave my cover open for a bit after I add chlorine or bromine.

I wouldn't shock it until after use....

So here are the steps

1. at fill pull bromine cartridge for 24 hours
2. at 90 degrees test levels and add 1-2 oz of bromine
3. after spa is at temp set cartridge to 1 or 2 and install
4. shock about an oz after each use

Is this the frog system you are describing?

hot tub dan, were you asking me or stuart?  If it's me, yes, it's the spa frog in-line bromine/mineral system.
