Newbie Product Review - The Grit Gitter
« on: August 11, 2007, 11:28:46 am »
All,

I needed a product that would help me get rid of the 'little bits' you find in the corners of the floor space of the tub when you take the cover off first thing in the morning.... :-?

...a trip to the Spa retailer close by and I found the Grit Gitter - obviously an American product, as us Limey's do not use sayings such as 'grit' and 'gitters' in the same sentence....  ;D

So, here is is... 8-)

The main body is made from rubber and has a lot of give in it.....the idea is that squeezing the body acts like a 'hoover' for the water that sucks up all the little debris by means of a one way valve and straining flap......here it is...

The Grit Gitter is real easy to use - and hey (!) it works !!!  :o :o :o

Here it is in action:-

Score??   :-?

Build quality - 9 - fits together snugly and looks like it will last..  :)
Effectiveness - 10 - does EXACTLY what is 'said on the tin'...  :)
Value for money - 5 - this cost £19.99 and I guess it is $35, so I think it is a little overpriced, to be fair.  :(

TOTAL SCORE - 24 / 30  :)

I wanted a cheap alternative to buying a real expensive pool cleaner and here we are!! You just have to remember to makes sure it is full of water before you start to pick up the debris. Else it will just blow a lot of bubbles!!!  ;)

It is just a little on the pricey side.  :o

Hope you found this useful
Nosh.

Looks like a big turkey baster.  ;)  This summer is the first time I've needed something like this.  I think I may check it out.

I bought a spa vac from Doc. I like the idea that I can clean the tub from outside the tub ... part of my weekly duties.

These things do work great!

I actually use a turkey baster to get grit off the bottom of the tub.  Works pretty good!
